You have found a most unique and passionate production house of certified 100% gluten-free and preservative-free foods, products and information. Grandma Ferdon's® named in honor of Julie’s maternal grandmother, is located in “God’s country” of northwest Wisconsin where time-honored traditions of honesty, pride and hard-work run strong in our upbringing. Within our facility, we prohibit the introduction of gluten (wheat, barley, rye and oats), soy, standard salt or preservatives; thus, we employ the made-from-scratch methods of product preparation just as Grandma Ferdon used. The delightful results are delicious foods that are like a childhood memory: tasty and comforting, and certified 100% gluten/preservative-free as well.

The concept of Grandma Ferdon's® was conceived when Julie was faced with the stress, confusion and frustration (not to mention hunger) of Celiac Disease. A “gluten-free diet” sounded simple in the doctor’s office! With a nursing background, she quickly realized that Celiac Disease is like not other. It is totally “self-managed” (a foreign concept to most patients) and the medical world offers little or no help as their usual routines are not an option. Immediate elimination of obvious gluten provided enormous improvements for Julie’s digestive symptoms; yet, subtle irritating symptoms persisted and antibody levels remained elevated. It was then clear to us: self-management of Celiac Disease clearly required a zero tolerance of any source of gluten and preservatives as well.

We vigilantly began to scour for every minute possible source of gluten in all consumer products and foods that might be available to Julie. As if hitting a brick wall, we were stunned to discover that in order for Julie to eat, we’d have to make it ourselves, avoiding the manufacturer’s world of gluten additives and preservatives. We recalled and researched the olds ways of homemade cooking. We reinvented and converted all recipes to be gluten-free. After many failures, most unrecognizable, we were pleased to be providing nutrition for Julie. This, however, only led to a renewed energy level of determination to achieve product perfection. More work. More failures. Finally, we were blessed with recipes that not only resembled their wheat cousins, but received rave reviews from non-Celiacs, too!

Grandma Ferdon's® was born. Julie is a highly sensitive Celiac Sprue and her struggle is a common story. We compassionately desired to be a gift: to provide the blessing of unique gluten-free quality products, wrapping it all up in a convenient and stress-free package.
